Carlyn

Carlyn was commissioned by Four Winds summer camp in Washington which selected Scarano Boat to design a replacement for their famous Olin Stephens designed yawl Dorade, which had been deemed unsuitable for their purposes by the US Coast Guard.  Four Winds Camp felt the yawl rig lent itself to northwest cruising and sail training with a young crew. Her design is styled after the mid-century American sailing yacht.

LOA:  61 feet (19 meters)
Type:  Yawl
Construction: Laminated Port Orford Cedar.
Year launched: 1995
Current location:  During the summer months Carlyn is operated out of Orcas Island, by Four Winds Westward Ho summer camp.  In the Spring and Fall she is operated out of Bainbridge Island by Salish Sea Expeditions, a non-profit group that takes young people out on Puget Sound for hands on experiences.
